We finally got some rain in Northern California, so I had planned to go to a waterfall along the coast that only flows right after a rain. We left our house around 11am, figuring 6 hours was long enough to drive 3 hours, hike and get setup before sunset. Unfortunately, we hit some pretty horrible traffic from West Sacramento through Vacaville that ate up our 2 hour buffer. Luckily, we did have enough time to make it to San Francisco and hike down to the nearly private beach below the Golden Gate Bridge.

So, although nothing went according to plan, the kids enjoyed getting soaked in a freezing cold ocean while my wife soaked up the last of the sunlight from the beach. A lackluster sunset with the family sure beats staying at home.
