You know that photo NASA took back in the ’90s with the Hubble telescope called the Pillars of Creation? Well, that iconic photo was the first photo to get me interested in space. This is my first attempt photographing the Eagle Nebula, which if you look closely, features the pillars in the center. I ended up shooting this target over 3 nights for a total of just over 8 hours of integration. After my initial stretching of data, background gradient removal, etc. I mapped the RGB colors to the Hubble palette to better match the original NASA photo. Now on to a larger telescope, mono camera and narrowband filters to do it correctly!
